Successful Conversion of three stationary generators in QLD Coal mines to Diesel Coal Seam Gas Operation

Alternative Engine Technologies Pty Ltd trading as Duofuel Systems is pleased to announce today that it has successfully converted three 30KVA Kybota motors working as stationary generators in a Queensland Coal Mine running pumps, to operating on Diesel and Coal Seam Gas collected from the mine itself.

Normally this coal seam gas would not be collected, and consequently harmful greenhouse gases would have been emitted in to the environment.

Now using our proprietary technology, some of this gas is now being collected and used as a fuel in the day to day operations of the mine, leading to a reduction of 50% in the normally expected diesel usage of these three generators. There have been no maintenance issues since the generators were commissioned four months ago.

Our customer is pleased to say the least, and has made enquiries for several more conversion kits for larger generators, which we expect to be supplied and commissioned in coming months.

The technology works on generators up to one megawatt capacity, and larger engines with relevant modifications. Applications include standby generators in buildings to power plants for remote power generation applications.

As a guide, these generators in Queensland use 7 litres of diesel per hour, now they use 3.5 litres per hour with the balance being coal seam gas, and run 24/7. Fuel cost savings are estimated to be approx $420 per week, for each generator, taking in to account allowable diesel fuel rebates, and the CO2 emissions reduction is estimated at 21%.

The Alternative Engine Technologies Pty Ltd Dual Fuel System (Duofuel) is a patented product owned and controlled here in Australia, and is a world leading dual fuel conversion technology for turbo diesel motors in almost any application, and works on every major engine type.
